Hans Bauer studied Slavic Studies and East and Southeast European History in Regensburg, Warsaw and Munich. On his studies he worked as an undergraduate assistant at the German Historical Institute Warsaw and for five years at the Osteuropa-Institut Munich. In 2003 he graduated with a master’s degree and started working at the Corporate History Desk of HypoVereinsbank Munich. In the following year he changed his field of activity hiring as a educational coordinator in European historical education at a NGO in Dresden. Since 2011 Hans Bauer focuses on librarianship: initially as employee of the Public Library of Emden (2011-2012), moreover as postgraduate student of Library and Information Science at the Humboldt University Berlin. Since 2013 he is academic member of the staff of the library at the IOS and responsible for the repository and digital information project OstDok, the server for research on Eastern Europe, as well as for GeoPortOst.
