Luminita Gatejel studied history, German and English literature at the universities of Cluj-Napoca (Romania) and Tübingen (Germany). She wrote her PhD on cars and consumerism in the Soviet Union, the GDR and Romania at the Berlin School for Comparative European History. 2009/2010 she was a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence (Italy). Since October 2011 she has been a researcher at the Institute for Southeast and East European Studies in Regensburg. Her fields of expertise are modern East European history, comparative history and the history of consumption.
