Reinhard Frötschner studied East and Southeast European history, late modern and contemporary history and Slavic philology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. From 1998–2000, he worked as an assistant to Prof. Dr. Frank Kämpfer in the Department of East and South-East European History at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster. Since 2000 – a research associate of the Eastern European Institute in Munich and currently a member of the editorial staff of the journal “Jahrbücher für Geschichte Osteuropas”, where he is responsible for the review section. Since 2004 – a lecturer in the Department of East and South-East European history at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, teaching regular proseminars respectively introductory courses on the history of pre-Petrine Russia. Dissertation – with Prof. Dr. Martin Schulze Wessel on “The Image of War in Muscovy under Tsar Ivan IV. Groznyj (1547–1584)”.
